MLK Day of Service: Tree Planting at McFerrin Park
Join the Hands On Nashville team in partnership with the Nashville Tree Foundation, and Metro Water Services for a family friendly, tree planting event on MLK Day! Trees provide shade, help to filter air pollution, create an oxygen rich environment, and reduce flooding by absorbing great amounts of groundwater!
In honor of one of the most prominent civil rights leaders, Martin Luther King Jr., we want YOU to come help plant trees to mitigate the impacts of various environmental health disparities. In Nashville, Black families experience higher respiratory and cancer risks from air pollution, and this project will help improve air quality for many of the Black families that live around McFerrin Park!
