Opportunity Details

Shelby Rec Open House

We are gearing up for the second annual Shelby Recreation Open House and we need help from prepping the event to creating a community mural

The Shelby Recreation Open House is a celebration of all things that get us active across Shelby park - indoors and out!  This second annual celebration of running, baseball, bird watching, tennis, soccer, skating, and more kicks off Saturday, March 25 at 10 am at the Shelby Park Community Center campus. Join us for an open house showcasing all the amazing activities all in one place. This is a chance for everyone to explore all the fun opportunities in Shelby Park and the Metro Parks system. Take a tour of the Shelby Community Center, play games, watch demonstrations, grab a hot dog, and have fun with neighbors.

Join us on Friday the 24th to help pick up litter around the Community Center, unload supplies, and set up the interior of the Community Center. Volunteers will be picking up litter using grabbers, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying possibly heavy supplies into the Community Center.

Join us on Saturday the 25th to help with food prep - cooking hot dogs, managing the condiment table, passing out drinks; and helping with our community art project - passing out supplies, cleaning brushes and providing direction.

The Center is wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms and water fountains are located inside.

If you sign up for this event, you will receive an email prior to the day with all the necessary information.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out cayty@friendsofshelby.org
