St. Luke's Community Househttp://www.stlukescommunityhouse.org/
St. Luke's Community House has operated as the primary social services agency for West Nashville since 1913. As a United Way Family Resource Center, St. Luke's serves as a central point to determine the needs of the neighborhoods and connect them with the proper agencies that can best serve them. By partnering with more than 25 different agencies, we are able to provide area residents with a variety of programs designed to meet all of their needs. We offer all of our FRC partner programs at no cost to the participants. St. Luke's collaborates with several youth serving agencies including Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Youth Encouragement Services for after-school and summer programs. Nashville Adult Literacy Council provides English language classes for immigrant residents; families and indidviduals in crisis are supported by Second Harvest's Food Bank which serves five zip codes through St. Luke's. Emergency Financial Assistance is provided to families, seniors, and the disabled for utility assistance. A Personal Finance Class provides budgeting and money management to prevent future crises. A Family and Children's Service Social Worker provides counseling for individuals and families. For older residents, senior support services including Mobile Meals, social activities, case management, and Metro's commodity delivery, allow them to remain independent and in their homes longer. Vanderbilt Coalition for Healthy Aging provides health screenings, companionship and programs. Seasonal programs include free tax preparation through VITA, Adopt-A-Family and Toy Store Holiday programs, and West Nashville Community Development Partnership's home improvement program. The Nashville Humane Association offers monthly spaying and neutering for our neighbor's cats and dogs.
