Bellevue Edible Learning Lab, Inc.

http://bellgardennashville.org/

The Bellevue Middle School Edible Learning Lab, Inc. (aka BELL Garden), located on one-acre at MNPS Bellevue Middle School, exists to cultivate, guide, and encourage shared community values of healthy living and lifelong learning. The BELL Garden mission provides practical learning opportunities for residents of the community in a setting that promotes physical activity, healthy eating, environmental stewardship, and multi-cultural connections for all generations. The BELL Garden started in the spring of 2010 when leaders from the Bellevue Exchange Club and the community came together to plan and solicit donations to develop a one-acre site. The garden produced an 870 pound harvest in its second season. Most of the harvest is donated to volunteers and area food bank agencies. The site currently includes a gazebo, an old-world adobe pizza oven, a greenhouse, a portable classroom with a deck, picnic area, Victory Garden, Koi pond, herb gardens, vertical garden demonstration patio, chicken viewing area, strawberry patch, blackberry and blueberry rows, berry bushes, fruit and nut trees, raised garden beds and field rows, tool shed, and a chicken coop capable of housing 20+ chickens,
