The Mission of the Buchanan Log House Chapter, APTA, is to preserve and protect the 1807 log home built by James Buchanan for future generations and safeguard the legacy of James and Lucinda Buchanan and their descendants. As an APTA chapter we support its mission to promote and participate in the preservation of Tennessee’s rich heritage through restoration, education, advocacy, and statewide cooperation. The Vision of the Buchanan Log House Chapter, APTA, is to make the Buchanan Log House a celebrated property in the Donelson community and Middle Tennessee through active community engagement, education about middle class life in the 1800s, and exploration of the log home’s connections to prominent figures in Tennessee's history.
