Thank you for celebrating Nashville Volunteer Week with us!

In 2022, Hands On Nashville launched its first-ever Nashville Volunteer Week! In an effort to combat dropping volunteerism rates nationwide, HON encouraged every person in Nashville to sign up for a volunteer shift through the end of 2022. The celebration, from Oct. 17-23, resulted in more than 700 volunteer shifts filled, 200 new accounts created, and 6,500 visits to hon.org! We are excited to make this a tradition and expand the event in 2023.

FAQs

What is Nashville Volunteer Week?

Why is Nashville Volunteer Week happening?
Across the nation, organizations are facing volunteer shortages. Here in Nashville, our volunteer trends are not immune. Volunteers are key to providing essential services – from serving at major community events to delivering meals to helping with administrative tasks to keep organizations running and more. Our community’s most valuable assets – organizations that serve Nashvillians’ most basic needs – are struggling to fulfill their missions without enough helping hands. Here in the Volunteer State, we need you! Whether you’ve never volunteered before or you are a seasoned volunteer veteran, now is the time to step up!

Where can I learn more information?
You've found it! Updates are posted at hon.org/NashvilleVolunteerWeek. For the latest volunteer opportunities and giveaways, follow @honashville on social media and sign up for our newsletter

Is there an in-person event associated with this week?
Not yet! Right now it’s just an online campaign to entice volunteers to sign up for projects. We hope to grow it in the future and have a big party to celebrate volunteers at the end.

Do volunteers have to sign up for a project during the week of Oct 17-23?
Ideally, we’d like everyone to sign up for a project during that week, but the project does not have to take place during that week. It can be any time in the future.

How do I win the $500 Amazon gift card?
Sign up for ANY volunteer shift to win. You must sign up between Oct 17-23, but the shift can take place any time. For example, if you sign up on Oct 18th for a volunteer shift on Nov 20th, you will automatically be entered to win the gift card. We'll select a winner on Oct 25.

Should community partners add volunteer opportunities during that week?
If there are needs, then yes, but we are hopeful this push will drive volunteer awareness and that folks will sign up for that week, AND future events.

Who is the driving force behind Nashville Volunteer Week?
It is a Hands On Nashville initiative designed to combat declining volunteer numbers.

What will be happening during the week?
Hands On Nashville will be promoting signing up to volunteer through social media, as well as through some paid advertising. There are no in-person events that the public can join at this time (other than volunteer opportunities).
