West Nashville Encampment Clean- Up

Shower the People and Hands on Nashville are looking for participants to take part in a Homeless Encampment Clean-Up!
 
Volunteers are needed to organize a collective community clean-up to beautify the West Nashville/Brookmeade encampment on January 24th from 9am to 1PM.

Volunteers will check-in as individuals or same arriving groups and be sent out in small teams after a brief orientation. We recommend that you watch this video, brought to us by Open Table Nashville, before the event in order to have the tools to be more successful while participating in an outreach event like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmEzRNZf3e0

Volunteers will assist with the removal of trash and debris located throughout the encampment to create a more sustainable and safe environment. By participating in this project, volunteers can assist our unhoused friends with sustainability and creating a more viable living space. The primary goal of this project is to show dignity to the individuals who live here and show that we are a stronger community when we work together. 

 
Please bring a water bottle and wear closed-toed shoes, work gloves (there will also be some provided if you do not have them), and clothes that are comfortable, warm, and able to get dirty. COVID-19 protocols and guidelines will be followed, and each volunteer will be asked to wear a mask and remain 6 feet apart as much as possible.
